usBurwood Highway Tramline Extension
For years, the plans to extend the current tram line that ends Hanover Road, Vermont South through to Westfield Knox have been ongoing. The extension is approximately 5.7km.
The 5.7km piece of work will provide greater access to this developing centre, which includes to medical facilities. It will provide an alternate route to the city and to Deakin University.
Back in 2022, before the last State Election, $2 million was promised by the State Opposition for a feasibility study.
As your local independent candidate, I will commit to advocating for the preliminary feasibility study to be undertaken. For too long, Aston has been overlooked by governments from both sides of politics. By getting the feasibility study done, if there is a change in state politics at next year’s state election, the parties can have an informed position, whether to support the development of this critical infrastructure in Aston.
Rowville Rail Link
Yes this old chestnut – the debate that are older than my adult children. Over recent years, we have seen significant development in rail construction. The use of elevate rail lines from the crossing removal works, now shows us that these can be done.
As your local independent candidate, I commit to advocating for a feasibility study to be redone to identify if an elevated rail line is a feasible option. This situation/debate/demand has been going on for decades. We need government to make a decision. Inaction on this project lies with both major parties who have repeatedly refused to listen to local residents. We need action which a new feasibility study, given elevated trainline construction in Victoria has advanced with the State Governments -crossing removal program can provide.
The value of independent candidates
As an independent candidate, my priority is getting the services for Aston – not getting elected to represent my party. As an independent candidate, I have the ability to steer the major party candidates in to declaring how they will (or as I suspect) won’t represent the voters of Aston. The best case scenario for Aston is that the major party candidates stop telling us what an Albanese or Dutton government will do for Australia, but what the local party candidates will do for Aston. I challenge the major party candidates to provide the voters of Aston with a clear and details response on where they stand on development of local infrastructure in Aston – not Australia.
A true independent
It is important to also highlight that I am a true independent. I will not be doing any preference deals with any party or candidate.
All I am asking is that you VOTE 1 – Andrew Williams then Vote 2 – for the party candidate of your choice that you would want to form government.
If I do not end up in the top two candidates, then your vote goes to your preferred party candidate, not someone that I have done a preference deal with.
