The Trump administration has announced that they will not be exempting Australia or any other country from the 25% Steel and aluminium tariff.
Australia imports more from the United States that we export to the United States – we are one of the few countries that this exemption request applies to.
Australia hosts – free of charge, US bases on Australian soil.
Australia provides (location) vital communication including NASA used facilities.
What we have received back from the Trump administration is an insult. We are no longer trading partners. Whilst I would support tariffs on American imports, the Albanese government has ruled that out…
I support and advocate for Australia to join the CANZUK Alliance (Canada, Australia, New Zealand and United Kingdom).
This alliance would put Australia in to the top five trading alliances. It would free up travel between the countries which would be positive for tourism.
We all have similar government structures and cultures. CANZUK has been around for a decade – we just need to take the next step.
Now more than ever we need to be securing our business and our future as a trader and it is clear, that the future (or at least the next four years) does not include the United States of America.
