Why should you VOTE 1 – Andrew Williams Independent for Aston
- I have lived in Rowville for over 25 years – I know our electorate
- I am married with three children and know the cost-of-living pressures that we are all experiencing
- Two of my three children are all young adults, and I understand their frustration due to the impacts of the lack of affordable housing in our area and across Melbourne
- I have volunteered in various organisations across Aston over the past two decades
- I own and run my own small business – I know and have the skills to effectively plan and budget
- I am an emergency management consultant – I know how to identify and assess risks – my practical experience is supported by academic qualifications
- I possess the necessary skills to ensure Government is accountable – financially, socially and environmentally
- If elected, my primary focus is on representing the voices of Aston. I don’t have party master’s that I answer too.
- I want the Government to stop wasting money. Yes, a disaster gives the PM and is underlings a photo-opportunity, but there us so much more we can do to prevent these incidents from happening. Our Government is a reactive organisation, spending a lot of time and money on responding to issues, where my vision is that we are a proactive Government, working to prevent these issues from occurring in the first instance – for every $1 spent on prevention, Government will save up to $26 on response and recovery
- Having grown up in the bush, I understand the value of community. Neighbours helping neighbours, well in some parts, neighbours even knowing the name of their neighbours would be a great start. This is why voting independent is important. We don’t need another party cog in the wheel that keeps the party machine going. We need a local voice.
