The hidden details of Albanese and Dutton’s new election legislation.
From 26 November 2024 – as published in the Guardian and ABC news
Whilst not reported on the mainstream media, there are more details that the Aston and Australian people need to know about the Albanese and Dutton deal to legislate political donations.
As previously mentioned, it is reported that the dollar value per vote will rise from $3.38 per first preference vote (1 Vote) to $5.00 per vote. This will net the major parties an additional $20 million taxpayer dollars. (as reported in the Guardian newspaper).
There are some who state that this is a ploy by the major parties to attempt to keep independents and minor parties out of politics. So how would they do this? Simple, develop such a complex set of rules that will need a fulltime book keeper to adhere to the legislation, which many independents will not be able to afford.
So you might say that this will also impact the major parties – and yes it will. To combat this, Albanese and Dutton have a solution – they will pay each sitting member of the House of Representatives a payment of $30,000 and a senator $15,000 to cover the administrative burdens of this legislation.
This will amount to an additional payment to the major parties – Labor receiving an addition (78 members – house of representatives) $2,340,000 taxpayer dollars; The Liberal and National Coalition (55 members) $1,650,000, Greens (4 members) $120,000. Then the Senate which will see additional funds for Labor (25 senators) = $375,000; Liberal Coalition (30 senators) = $450,000 and Greens (11 senators) $165,000.
So in total the major parties, as well as significantly increasing their windfall from first preference votes, will also be double-dipping the taxpayers to the tune of – Labor $2,715,000 – Liberal Coalition $2,025,000 and the Greens – $285,000 = that totals additional ‘hardship payments’ of $5,025,000 of taxpayer money to the major parties.
We are all experiencing the cost of living issues. Products are getting smaller, yet their price stays the same or goes up. The parties have their political snout in the trough, treating us, the voters, with contempt.
It is important to note that this is not corruption as the claims they will make will be what they legislate and will be lawful. It is not corruption just total contempt for all of us who are doing it tough. It is total contempt for Australia’s democracy.
Aston voters – you have the opportunity to send a strong and clear message to the major parties – Vote 1 – Andrew Williams. Let the major parties know that they have not earned your first preference vote
